natoly Shymkin is just currently graduating from the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, but he is, nevertheless, a fully established artist. The portraiture is Anatoly's genre of choice; however, his interest lies not only in fixating individual's traits, but rather in creating convincing psychological images. Easily grasping particular features of his models' image, the artist deliberately stays away from excessive details, emphasizing most expressive traits of model's character and spiritual state. He generalizes the form, limits color palette, but this laconism results in amplification of entirety of impression and artistic expressiveness.
