JOIN US! On September 15 the Expo celebrates eight years as a unique "Free Culture Fair" where the emphasis is NOT on selling, but making connections, sharing resources and creating culture and community. Admission is donation-based and no one is turned away.

WHAT IS IT? The Expo is an all-day extravaganza featuring more than 100 Bay Area arts organizations, free workshops, performances, and hundreds of local artists and musicians. Attendees can browse tables staffed by local galleries, nonprofits, collectives and small businesses; present their portfolios; and join in workshops on grant proposals, censorship, arts marketing, underground art history, making a demo tape and more.

Out of the Box: Reclaiming and Recycling Barbie into eco-friendly Art. 75 artists and vendors showcase their visions and creations for saving the planet with a wide range of Barbie & Ken art and re-usable products that includes mixed-media, painting, printmaking, photography, quilts and 3D Barbies, with video, performance and film.

BARBIE BALL & ARTISTS RECEPTION:
Thursday, August 2, 5:30 pm to 12 am.


Come dressed as your favorite Barbie or Ken and meet the artists and vendors who are helping to save the environment.

  • The evening will be covered live by PNN and will include live performances by various artists, bands and DJ's as well as a demonstration by Allie Buckner the renowned author of the "How to Make an Altered Barbie" and "Barbie Killer" comics.
  • Barbie films to be screened will include "The Tribe" by Tiffany Shlain, "Barbie Nation" by Susan Stern and "How to Make an Altered Barbie" by Michel Fraser.
