A former submarine barracks and naval shipyard has evolved into one of the largest community of artists in the country. The 5-acre premises, usually off-limits to the public, are open for a combination warehouse sale and exhibition.

Catch an inkling of the messy nature of creation, as around 300 artists and craftsmen open up their workspaces to the public. West and North Marin artists are featured on the second weekend, and artists from San Rafael down through South Marin are featured on the first weekend.
