California Modern Art Gallery and MesArt.com are pleased to announce REFLECTIONS OF THE BAY the first annual juried competition and art show to benefit The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco Tenderloin Clubhouse.

The exhibition opens on September 25, 2008 and closes December 2, 2008. This is a wonderful opportunity to see great local art and contribute to an organization that does so much for kids.

The esteemed panel of jurors selected over 150 works of art for this event including paintings,
sculptures, photography and prints. The jurors were Alan Bamberger, art consultant and author,
publisher of ArtBusiness.com, DeWitt Cheng, artist, curator and co-editor of SF Art Magazine
and Inga Fischer, owner/director California Modern Art Gallery.

A portion of the proceeds from this exhibition will be donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco's Tenderloin Clubhouse. Also, artwork produced by children in a competition at the Tenderloin Clubhouse will be on exhibit during the opening of this exhibition at California Modern Art Gallery.

A Gala Opening, Thursday, September 25, 2008, from 6-8:30 PM, highlighting some of the Bay Area's best contemporary artists as well as providing a fun community event to support a great cause.

Market Street Gallery is pleased to present "Word on the Street," an exhibition of screen prints on paper that graphically portray the modern urban landscape. The technique of screen print (serigraphy) is especially suited to the bold graphic styles that the featured artists employ in their street-level depictions of the city.

ROADWORKS: Steamroller Prints

Potrero Hill's street fair will take place Saturday,
September 20, 2008, 12 noon to 5 pm,
on De Haro Street between 16th and 17th streets.

Local artists and members of the community convene at this annual free street fair to create unique large-scale linoleum block carvings printed with a three-ton steamroller.
Roadworks: Steamroller Prints will bring together 6 local artists, Patricia Curtan, Emory Douglas, Jason Jagel, Rik Olson, Favianna Rodriguez, and San Quentin State Prison students of Katya McCulloch with Art Hazelwood, will create original linocut prints to be pressed by the steamroller.
